A Quintessentially Singaporean Halloween

When I was growing up, Halloween was the kind of stuff that only existed in Enid Blyton story books and American TV shows. There was no dressing up as ghouls and the undead, and Singaporean kids did not go trick or treating. The only time that anyone would look like a goblin was if they were ugly, short, round and insisted on wearing green stockings.

But when it became legal for me to drink and enter clubs, Halloween morphed into a phenomenal costume party where men could make an appearance as Hooter girls with squeezable 38E boobs, and whales could go into town wearing, fishnet stockings low-cut corsets and micro mini skirts, without being tossed back into the zoo.

The scene at Butter Factory was riotous, not to mention hilarious, when my friends and I arrived at 12mn.

I was guilty of not dressing up in a theme because T refused to come as a toothfairy in pink tutu that showed his hairy legs and Cyn refused to turn up in public without her fake eyelashes that got lost somewhere in Malaysia.

And while I told everyone that I would be going as Lady Gaga, I had trouble finding a matching black granny underpants that matched my black corset - for some strange reason, they only sold those in granny beige. Plus the only silver wig that I found was from Toys'R'us that kept popping up on my head.

I was getting a lot of, "Hey why are you not dressed up!"
Me: "Yes, can't you tell, I'm actually a man in disguise?"

Here are some of the really cool (and funny) ones that I managed to capture before alcohol made everything so funny that all my pictures were a blur.

The Emperor whom I mistook for a Eunuch.

The girl with the missile boobs

Penthouse cover girl!

The O'Darling tissue with issues

There was also a pair of dudes who came as Emily Howard and Florence from Little Britain. Decked in Victorian laces, petticoats and parasols, they spoke in Little Britain-esque voice, and behaved just like any 2 ladies going about their normal "ladylike business", downing "lady drinks" and saying "But I'm a lady...I do lady things".

At one point, after being plied with copious amount of alcohol, I started prancing on the row of couches in FASH's VIP area, pretending to be Lady Gaga, totally disregarding the beat of the song that was being played. A waitress from Butter tried to coax me to come down before I told her this:

"Haahahaha...don't bluff. You pretend to work for Butter by wearing the Butter Factory Uniform, don't think I cannot tell."

Clearly she wasn't too amused.

In Singapore, instead of candied apples and carved pumpkins, we have lots of alcohol and drunk vampires; instead of girls dressing up as fairies and tinkerbells, we have men dressing up as centerfold girls or cleavage baring witches with garter belts.

Nobody really knows what Halloween is, or what it is about, as long as you get to laugh at people, be laughed at, have lots of fun, drink lots of alcohol and have a hangover the next morning. When Halloween comes to Singapore, it turns into a circus for adults to dress up in silly costumes, act stupid and get away with it.

Me on Creative Vado HD Camcorder

Working on tech and digital PR has its perks. Everytime the company gets a cool new gizmo, you are the first to test it out. I doubt the alcohol team gets to guzzle down buckets to Champagne/Whisky before the event itself.

So for the event this Saturday, my company ordered this cool gizmo, Creative Vado HD Camcorder from Creative for me, which delivered within a short 24 hours.

I was hyperventilating when it came because not only was it cool and compact, it's totally idiot proof and really easy to use.

Complete with 8GB of memory, and cool movie editing functions, like adding music, effect and all the la-dee-dum, videos can also be automatically shared on various online platforms in just a matter of seconds.

So presenting my virgin movie, created by me, directed by me, and starring me...

*Eh clap la!!*

M.A.C. Hello Kitty makeup comes to town

Unless you were born before 1950 or if you have a PhD (you are excused from anything if you have a PhD :p), you should have heard or read about the unexpected union between quirky makeup brand, M.A.C. and Hello Kitty, the pink sweetheart with a red bow from Sanrio.

So move aside, Majorlica Majorca, because M.A.C Hello Kitty is in town and is on the prowl! Meow~

Hello Kitty Mild, meet Hello Kitty Wild! Sweet and innocent or out on the prowl: when she's good, she's very good, but when she's bad, she's unmistakably M·A·C!

I had the good fortune of being invited to the M.A.C. Hello Kitty cocktail soiree that celebrated the debut of the adorable collections of colours, finishes, glitters and accessories. The M.A.C. kitty collection features the iconic cat in a pop art design packaging, with limited-edition colour in intense hues that are a signature of M.A.C cosmetics.

Topless men kitties (I was told later that they were known as S&M kitties - complete with leather pants and nipples) were the hors d'oeuvres at the event, as they stood around to take pictures with the celebrity-studded audience.

I simply couldn't give this a miss, could I? Oops, I look a tad too happy.

In between ooh-ahhing over the kitty-oriented cocktails, canapes and accessories that were served, we were bowled over by the huge array of kitty accessories that sprung out of this collection.

Being the beauty junkies that we are, Val and I also had a smashing time dipping our fingers into the limited-edition makeup palettes with quirky names such as Lucky Tom, Too Dolly, and Pink Fish.

While neither Too Dolly nor M.A.C.'s glitter pigments were my cup of tea, considering that I have the type of face that simply cannot wear too much makeup and colours, I was really sold on the Lip Glass.

Unlike some cheapo lip gloss that melts into a "greasy mouth syndrome" (think oily lips after eating oily chicken wings), M.A.C.'s lip glass works like a lip gloss but it sort of dries up to leave a beautiful glaze over your lips, making it look luscious and shiney without that sticky & wet feel that most lip gloss have.

I was given the colour Mimmy, a nubile peach pink with a slight hint of glitter, that is coincidentally so me. Use it on its own for a barely-there oh-I-am-so-beautiful-naturally look, or slick on a nude lipstick shade underneath for a an understated city chic.

You can tell how yummylicious the lip gloss is from the above picture, with me looking as if I was trying to crunch it all up for dinner.

The nice folks at M.A.C also gave us a matching eye colour each.
Isabelle -> Mimmy(the lip glass) and Concrete (the dark brown eye shadow)

Valerie -> Nice Kitty (the lip glass) and Nanogold (the pale golden eye shadow) that works beautifully as a base on Asian skin tones.
I'll be re-creating my own M.A.C Mild kitty look soon. So stay tuned~

Till the next time I blog. Images are a courtesy of Valerie, and here's the link to her blog...just so you know who's the real camwhore here. LOL~

Cheap Sex

It was early in the morning and about 8 of us were crammed in the tiny makeshift Girl's locker room, mulling around doing nothing in particular and talking about nothing specific in particular, and soon our conversation topic shifted to Tampons.

Girl A: Crap, Red Flag's up today... Not sure if I brought enough tampons.

A few of us: I have some if you need.

In between applying lipstick, Girl B who was originally sitting quietly in a corner napping looked up.

Girl B: I don't dare to use tampons; my friend said that it feels like having sex 24/7 when you have it on.

(Before you start taking her word for it, it doens't. You don't see random females writhing away on the streets in ecstacy...)

Girl A: Please lor, if that were true, then sex is damn cheap. Just $10 for a box of 32 Happy Hours.

Communicasia 2008

Judging from the picture, what do you think is my business at Communicasia 2008?

A) A Janitor commissioned to clean the toilets during Communicasia 08
B) A Model for Samsung Electronics

For 4 consecutive days, I wore fake eyelashes (Flutter, flutter) ***MAJOR ACHIEVEMENT, because they're a bitch to put on, especially since I always end up glueing my eyelids together instead.

For 4 consecutive days, I STYLED my hair **Another Major feat, because I didn't end up loking like I'm the PRC guniang selling Char Siew Buns in the Forbidden City Museum

For 4 consecutive days, I woke up at 7am and spent close to 2 hours doing my make up and hair, because I am really really slow when I put on my make up.

For 4 consecutive days, for 8 hours each day, I mindlessly repeated how AMAZING/SLIM/SMALL Samsung Bluetooths are.

Am I glad that it's finally OVER.

This is the 3rd consecutive YEAR that I'm modelling at Communicasia, and each year, my uniform gets progressively ugly...

CommAsia '06

Eeps, I wore blue eye shadow.

CommAsia '07

CommAsia '08

All of Samsung's models in Ugly Garb

At the risk of sounding like an ungrateful, whiney bitch, I was thankful for the company of a bunch of really wonderful, fun and prettaye ladies, who braved the 32 hour of standing with me...

Some of the Korean dudes who helped and entertained us along the way...

And not forgetting my fav bunch of ladies whom I not only shared a locker with, but also everything from eye shadow palettes and hair spray, to grousings and bimbotic nonsense. Val and Zilei.

Zilei, Moi, Our Ultimate Momma, Val

PS: Actually, do check out the Mono Bluetooth headset from Samsung, WEP 500. They're one of the smallest in the world currently - about the size of a dollar coin, and comes in a myraid of attractive colours (red, blue, green, silver, black etc). It sports a futuristic "cute" circular design, with advance audio technology, simplistic control buttons and 2 Mic Solution to enhance the picking up of surrounding sounds.

Cool Enough?

They even have a limited edition set, co-branded with YSL, and it comes in a Luxurious Gold Design.

Still need more proof that it's worth a look?

I heard it's selling pretty well in India... :D:D:D

Say hello to the fake Goldies

We were supposed to look like Golden statues on the runway, somewhat greek inspired.
But I thought we looked more like some cheesy auspicious-looking Asian and Pan-Asian characters created for Austin Powers.

This was the sight that greeted me when I first reached the event venue.:D:D:D

but OMG, they're only 19!!!
I.FEEL.LIKE.A.PAEDOPHILE.

I don't know what the boys were doing preening in front of the mirror in a half-naked state, but I guessed the robes weren't there when they started the body painting

And just as I was warming up to the idea of doing this show, they ushered me to a damn cold corner, wrapped me up in prickly golden garbs, and start the ritual of spraying cold, wet gold paint all over my body.

Even my hair wasn't spared.

Apparently, we were hired for some Malaysian Royalty's Birthday Event.
A very, very, very expensive birthday, I'd say

All 6 of us, hired in the capacity of models. Already not cheap
Throw in the cost of the body painters, the dressers, the event venue(St Regis being a super high-class hotel)
No expenses were spared on the expensive menu (I saw foie gras on some socialite's plate while I was strutting my stuff on the stage)
The "Gold" themed decor
The exclusive guest list with the A-list glittery socialites and well-known top plastic surgeons and media people in Singapore.
The celebrity hosts, and belgian game master, and a couple of international singers

Wah...I think I could probably buy a 3 room HDB flat in Singapore with all that money.

But for all it's opulence, the welfare for us models sucked. We were starved, frozen half to death, and then the 2-faced client tried to undermine and undepay us, by giving shitty excuses to make us stay later and claiming that we were late by 1.5 hours. That bitched faced woman from 1-Werkz Production attempted to milk us dry by making us stay 2 hours beyond the agreed time, by making us stay for the round of game with the socialites, in which we were required to hold up number cards above our heads when they score a point. Unfed at 11pm, you can bet the bunch of us could win the most sourly looking models award.

If she'd just use her big fat blain to think a bit, how on earth can we be late for 2whole hours, if we were already dressed and painted when she made her grand inspection 2 hours from reporting time. Holy as the king and Queen of Malaysia might be, gold flakes do not magically settle on our body and coat the 6 of us, in 1 second.

By 11pm, I felt so cheesed out that I half wished I didn't shave my armpits when I was raising up my cards just so that the unpruned national forest growing from under the pits will scare the shit out of the royalties.

And maybe some one should strip.
Protocol dictates that there should not be any indecent exposure towards the royalties, which will send them into a mad frenzy, and then they will have to go home to pray immediately, and maybe fast for a month.

Why princesses don't exist in Singapore

When I was just a little girl, my mother used to read Disney stories of princesses with beauty that could sink a thousand ships, and with gowns that were spun out of silk and gold. Even though they were lonely, all they had to do was to sing, and all the animals in the woods be summoned. Most of all they had a kind heart and they loved kids.

The little me would then go on to wonder why weren't there any princesses in Singapore...and I often wonder if I'll grow up to become one.

Well I did, at least last Sunday I did, and boy, I'd never want to be a princess again.

For starters, I was Belle from Beauty & The Beast. And apparently Cinderella is camera shy.
The princess gown that I was in is simply too bloody hot to be in. With it's billowing layers of long shiny fabric, it's more like a trigger for accident than anything else.

And lets face it, there's no such thing as "Natural Beauty".
The faerie god mother who is supposed to bless you with "Beauty" during your one month celebration in exchange for some red eggs and a lousy butter sponge cake, couldn't be bothered with making a grand entrance just for a couple of eggs.

And it might have worked if you sang your whole life. But in Singapore, we grew up doing assessment books and the only time we could sing, was during music class, and they only taught you how to sing songs about building the community and loving teachers.

So unfortunately for us, princesses in Singapore needs to rely on makeup to look princessy.

But in this kind of heat, all make up will be reduced to streaks, and all attempts to smile will be turned in to squints. (see above picture).

So no princess for us.

But before the princesses make their grand exits, they blow kisses to everyone, and here's some from them to you... Enjoy while it lasts.

oops...looks like Belle is even too stingy to be giving out her kisses.

Code::XtremeApps::

Seeing that I am so darn free these days (my social activity calender is packed to my eyeballs, but my mother disregards them as frivolous pursuits), I was roped into the task force to "Plan the kid brother's holiday schedule".

So much for taking a garden break. Pffft!

The brother, by the way, is now in Primary 5. He prides himself on his martial arts display having seized several medals in some inter-school competition, mixes around with obnoxious kids from his school, and is perfectly comfortable sitting in the lower percentile of this class, grades wise.

Well, he's not too dumb for a kid, I think, considering the fact that he has an opinion about almost everything, and he can never seem to stop talking/singing/reciting dumb poems about poets basking moonlight, naked in the museum. And the only aim he has right now, other than to win another martial arts medal, is to play computer games. He can beat any Chatuchak shopper when he bargains with my mother to use the computer for games, for an hour and in exchange, he'll do an hour of homework, although he pretty much never keeps to his side of the promise. Plus he has this inexplicable fascination for Google Earth, which he installed, which then miraculously displaced my MSN from the iMAC at home. I do not know why.

So being the very concerned sister that I am, I wanted to plan something for him that is enriching, but not too cheesily boring; something that will excite him, that has nothing to do with martial arts because trust me, he'll have plenty of those during his vacation. Then I came across this programme that I thought was pretty cool and I thought of sharing it with all the teachers who actually reads my blog.

***And also for another reason which I will reveal later on in the entry :D:D

Due to last year's overwhelming response for a 24-hour programming competition called Code::XtremeApps::, The Information Technology Standards Committee (ITSC) is bringing the activity back this year.

What really excites me is the introduction of a new Junior Category this year, to invite children 12 years and below (MY BROTHER!!!!) to complete a task creatively, based on a given theme using this girly-named 3D programming tool called ALICE, which makes it easy to create an animation for telling a story, playing an interactive game, or a video to share on the Web.

Gee, I never thought that I'd use the word "cool" on a programming anything, considering that when I crashed a programming lecture as a freshman in NUS, all I cared about was socializing and making snide remarks at the nearby group of nerdy PRC girls.

Okie, the cool part comes when this programme actually provides training for the kids over a period of 5 days (:D:D which means 1 week of planning down for me), to teach them how to grasp the fundamental programming concepts through the manipulation of objects in the virtual world of Alice (in somewhat of a 'drag n drop' way), thereby developing logical thinking skills useful in probelm solving, through the same set of skills that you acquire from writing a programming code.
Hey the brother might emerge being more sensible than the nonsensical self he is now. Following that, the kids are required to spend about a week or two, to create their own Alice program based on a given theme. (2 more weeks burnt on something meaningful :D:D)

And the coolest of the cool part, which was also the part that got the brother really hyped up about this entire holiday programme, is the prizes for winner groups of the Junior Category:

1st Prize: A Nintendo Wii or equivalent for each member of the group
2nd Prize: A Sony PSP bundle or equivalent for each member of the group
3rd Prize: A Nintendo DS Lite or equivalent for each member of the group.

And 10 cosolation prizes worth up to $100 for each team. (Although the brother was giving the "CHEYS!" when I got to the part about the consolation prizes).

And now, the reason why I'm bringing up this programme on my blog at the risk of sounding like a really cheesy programming saleman, is to invite all the very smart kids out there, who are under 12, with teachers/parents who read my blog, to partner my brother and beat the pants off other kiddy combos who have also set their sights on winning the Nintendo Wii.
Any kids who are under 12, be it from MOE primary schools, Singapore-based international, or are home-schooled, are welcome to form a group of 2 to 3, to sign up for this competition.

The schedule of the competition is as follows:

Team Registration
18th April 2008 - 16th May 2008;
registration forms are available for download from the ITSC website www.itsc.org.sg

Training Session on ALICE
26th May 2008 - 30th May 2008; at Nanyang Girls' High School

Deadline for submission of Team Entries
23rd June 2008

Judging Day
27th June 2008

Prize Presentation Ceremony
August 2008

My brother is not a very logical type of kid, but he's full of creativity and mad ideas, and perhaps someone somewhere can synergize with him to produce a remarkable piece of work. RIGHT? So any volunteers?

The C-list socialites

At the recent launch that my company went to, I had a taste of what
C-list socialites were like.

Pretentious, cakey, shrill and whores for media attention.

Okie, when we received the invite list for some of the VIPs of that night, i was astounded by the designation of some (in fact most) of them. Eg:
Name & Designation
MR Tan KK and Mrs Gucci Tan (Businessman & Tai tai)

So i asked my colleagues, erm wouldn't the "tai tai" designation be a little informal/ derogatory for the event that we'd be attending? Considering the formalities of it all. And that shouldn't we give these women an identity of their own? Instead of naming themselves as tai tai, which literally translate to "Some rich men's wife". Like a possession.
I would think that even a "Home-maker" sounds better as a designation than a "Taitai" even though that word comes without the glamour.
But no, according to my colleague, who was liaising with the events company, THAT was the designation they gave themselves.

And so i attended the event bubbling with excitement, and awaited with bated breath like a 5 year old girl, waiting to watch the Cirque du Soleil. And boy, i was massively disappointed.
The moment they arrived in their flashy red car, first they posed haughtily at the entrance, then they waltz in somewhat not so gracefully in their 5000 inch heels (i mean if they have heels that are higher than mine, then they must be 5000 inches).
The moment they got to the register, they bent down, and planted fake *Muack muack* kisses on the cheeks of the girl doing events register. AS IF THEY WERE LONG LOST GOOD FRIENDS. But no, according to the girl doing events, it was all for the camera, for the media, for the paparrazzi. The fact is, they hardly knew each other.

I've always thought that tai tais( well at least most of those that I've encountered while I was interning at the Art Museum), had gorgeous glowing skin, and silky soft hair, that are too etheral for the touch of us mere mortals. But no ley...it seems that these bunch, whom I termed the C-list tai tais, had skin that were cakier than mine. Some had hair that were frizzier than mine. For those who has seen my hair ah, will know that I have very messy, unruly kinks for hair, almost perpetually. But u see, it's tolerable for me, because I am a busy little graduate/trainee in my new job with no money and no time, and I even have to model part time to sustain myself. What's more, these are self-acclaimed Tai tais ley...Tai tais do things like sit in the salon and do hair/nails/slim wraps all the time. So you can imagine that I was majorly disappointed. On top of that, they didnt seem like the philanthrophic type that volunteer their services at places like the Singapore Art Museum or any other charitable organizations, but are those who REALLY squander their time partying away at social events and talks only about who's a bitch and who isn't. Basically, they remind me of Paris Hilton, but a less famous, and less pretty one.

The ultimatum came, when i had to interview them.
Because i was relatively new, and none of them knew me, they asked for my name after my interview, perhaps because it was only polite to do so especailly i had asked for their name (in my case, it was because I had to insert it into the video), not because i want to google about them and marry their sons. But when i politely replied that my name is xiao yun, there were a bunch of them (with the bad hair and poor taste in clothes), went gasping to each other, and to some of the ang mo guests "Oh it's a chinese name, oh it's an asian name."

As if a Chinese name is cheaper than a western name. WTF~

And apparently, one of them had a pseudo japanese hello kitty kind of name, which i would write here in font size 42, if not for the fact that knowing they are so media-whorish, they might just google for their own names and locate my blog. Eh but a pseudo Jap name is also Asian what...so I don't understand why is my Chinese name less worthy of being recognized than her stupid pseudo-jap name. The other one was even more pretentious, she was named after a designer brand whose fashion show I can only dream of doing, if I wake up one day to find myself with legs that are 1.5m. For the purpose of illustration only, eg Bvulgari Lee.

Furthermore, the adjectives in their vocabulary do not go beyond "beautiful" and "nice", as I've discovered upon looking at my interview notepad which i've scribbled down notes of their response. There was this one with very flat hair, who obviously has difficulty in expressing her delight at the unvieling, that she kept mumbling "ah so nice....hmm just very nice...i Like, nice to put in the house etc etc etc" and it was only until i gently cued in the word "sensual" then she was like "ah yes, sensuous very sexy, very sexy" etc etc...And then she kept using my word ever since. Dumbass.

Unlike the ones who've volunteered at the museum, these were obviously lacking in good-breeding, manners and intellect.

THANK GOD IS FRIDAY!!!!

Friday means the end of Communicasia 2007. This year I had the fortune/misfortune/fortune in disguise of working for Sony Ericsson. The girls whom I worked with were really lovely people. It was just too bad that our costume this year sucked, and we had no way to compete with those models from SAMSUNG and LG. And plus, we had to be there earlier than most, left later than most (because of some dumb-fucked debrief everyday idunnoforwhat), and we were paid less.

Paid less means less enthusiasm, less makeup (because makeup is expensive) and no fake eyelashes. Oh and ermm messy hair. Siao...as I was complaining the whole week, if you had to wake up at 7.30am everyday would you zhng your hair nicely? I wouldn't unless they paid me a bomb. And have I already mentioned, uniform ugly, face very nice also no use. PLus pay less means no touch up of make up after lunch. So those media that caught me after my lunch break, well too bad for me lor...

Budden there were advantages to my ugly lab-like costume. For one, the white blazer kept us warm while all other girls from other companies were shivering in their skin. We got to wear sneakers (because 4 days of exhibition on heels is A KILLER), and because our uniforms were so un-glam and un-modelly, we could pass off as staff, albeit very young ones. So I actually put that to my advantage, because when a certain someone from my ex-agency came up to me, I told her I was a staff from SE, and not a model.

Apart from the being slaved promoter style and media-whored by the company, and looking ugly, I'm happy it's froday because it means I am finally moving home. Throughout the whole exhibition period, it made sense to stay at ZY's place because he stayed sooooo near the expo. BUDDEN it's very stressful to stay at his house.

It's stressful enough to have so many rules at work. THen when you come back home, there seemed to be more 'cleanliness' rules. Something about the correct angle of the slippers in the kitchen, the hallway, the correct direction of the tap to use, the towels, the 'dirty' and 'clean' rules, having to wash your hands with dettol for touching every nitty things. Urghh i swear I can go crazy here.

Sure, I do appreciate that he and his parents really took care of me while I was there, but me being me, I hate rules. Period. And I cannot even hug Xiaobai after I've bathed because he's considered dirty. I cannot remember rules, especially those small minute details that I took for granted. Plus 'cleanliness' in his house is defined in microscopic terms. So although I have been to his house 108439424 times, I can never manage to remember what is what and how is how.

So I am glad...

My blog is getting boring. It reminds me of a certain someone we all know who has the most boring blog entries in the world, and who blogs on livejournal. Makes me wonder, if people reads my blog because like his, it's so super boring that it becomes amusing to read...Sucks. Lesson at 9am. Tutorial still not done, and later in the day, i'm going to the Singapore Fashion WEek. Liddat how to look nice...? #%$@$#!!!!
The weekend was a way too short one. I managed to finish Lockhart's essay and hand it in before 12 Mid-night (even though I was supposed to hand in during his class at 4pm, which I had conveniently skipped, all because the I was tearing my hair out trying to complete the damn essay). I think I am the last to hand in my paper. Again. After 36 hours of staring at the computer screen, my vision had turned into some weird surreal green colour. When I looked into the mirror, I had a greenish tinge. Xiaobai had a greenish tinge(not because he is in desperate need of washing). Even the corridor in the History department looked green. urghh.

Zy then drove us to West Coast Mac for dinner, but we only had $12 in cash among the both of us, so we only ordered a 20 piece Nugget, a double cheeseburger and a strawberry milkshake. The milkshake kinda sucked, but he is crazy over it, but I was too hungry to mind. Plus, i was already in a happy mood. Macs has always been a mood enhancer for me...The more food, the happier I get.

Saturday, we went to watch Phantom of the Opera. Zy had bought seats at B-row, which is actually the first row. Any closer to the stage you'd drop into the cockpit. The show was fantastic. I love it that the Phantom could just appear anywhere imaginable. Zy said this phantom, as compared to the one he previously saw, is too whiney. He previous phantom was more 'man'...Ah, what does men know about 'manliness' anyway.

Zy especially liked the last scene To the point of no return, during which the Phantom was disguised as the fat Tenor, Sinor Piangi, who was supposed to be playing the DOn Juan opposite Christine. He was wearing Piangi's big black robe, the cowl of which hid his face, and I think he and Aminta(played by Christine) were like mutually seducing each other. Everytime when Christine's finger touches him, or when he traces her outline, he looked like he was orgasming. But the singing was totally perfect, until Christine realizes that Don Juan wasn't Sinor Piangi, but the phantom himself and calmly pulled off his mask and the wig that the phantom wore. Somehow that charm and suaveness that the phantom had established before was completely destroyed. In place of his skillfully sleeked back black hair, he had a few pathetic wisp of blond hair sticking out in any possible directions that made him look a little like a deformed goblin. I mean being a deformed man is bad enough la, they still made him look like a deforemed goblin. I mean even though I knew that the Phantom was supposed to be some gifted freak of nature with a hideous face, but I still wanted him to be as suave and as phantomly as possible. At least give him back his nicely-oiled back black hair right...

Despite it all, I think it was worth every cent of the $150 that Zy paid for the tickets. The song, Think of me, actually had a special meaning to me; and when Christine first sang it, I almost teared--I felt sad, regret, relieved and love all at the same time. Somehow that was possible k...And we were sitting so close to the stage that it felt almost like we were in the show itself.

I would have liked to talk more about my phantom show, but then Laura reads my blog and she'll kill me if I have too much spoilers here. Hence the above is just a boring lil' summary of my Phantom show. But rest assure it's way better than that.

When I went back home at night, I saw my new iMac! Actually I'm only moderately excited over it, because I've never been a techno kinda person. Gadgets are but a tool to make my life more exciting/miserable. But zy was like gushing over it, and the moment he stepped into my house, he started doing something to the computer. 'doing' because My vocabulary doesn't include the technical term of what he was 'doing' on the computer. This new piece of 'thing' had a "whah whah whah" sound coming out if it when it was on, which according to zy, weren't supposed to be the case. So it means my brother had to wait for another week befor he could get his hands on it. Oh, but the only thing that I liked about the whole Mac machine is that it has a built in Camera. how exciting right. I actually decided Mac over PC after I watched the whole series of Mac Vs PC commercials which were hilarious.
But now i realize I'm completely clueless as to how to use it. urghh...I couldnt even invite people to video chat with me over MSN, so in the end, I spent the whole night making funny faces at ZY over Skype using the video cam.

Slept through the day on Sunday, and didn't get anything done except 1 miserable reading.
